Lawrence R. “Larry” Labrado was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Board in January 1994 and elected to represent Trustee Area 3 in November 1994. He is currently serving as president of the Board and is a member of the Board’s Facilities and Policy committees.
A former educator, Labrado served as an outreach director at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) prior to his retirement. He is currently a small business owner with more than 20 years of experience in enrollment management.
Labrado is devoted to advancing the education of local youth and Latino children and adults. He has served in countless leadership roles over the past four decades and has earned numerous awards. Most recently, he was named as one of 50 successful Latino alumni from CSUF to be featured in promotional exhibits for the university’s 50th anniversary celebration. He was also recently inducted into the CSUF Educational Opportunity Program Hall of Fame.
Larry currently serves as member of the American GI Forum and a director of the American GI Educational Foundation. In the past, he has served on the Leadership Advisory Committee for the Orange Chamber of Commerce as well as the Boys and Girls Club of Orange, LULAC Education Foundation and the Friendly Center Inc.
Labrado, who is known in the community for making decisions that support his advocacy for students, holds an associate degree from Santa Ana College and a bachelor’s degree in ethnic studies from CSUF.
