(Santa Ana, CA) - Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) has named Adriene “Alex” Davis, Ed.D., as its assistant vice chancellor of economic and workforce development. In this position, she will serve as the executive director of the Los Angeles Orange County Regional Consortium (LAOCRC) and the main point of contact for LAOCRC chief executive officers. Davis will also facilitate implementation of California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office career education, workforce economic development initiatives and oversee regional projects.
Davis comes to RSCCD from Los Angeles City College (LACC), where she served in the following capacities: dean of academic affairs instructional programs, dean of economic and workforce development/career technical education, and executive director of LACC Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program. Within these roles, Davis secured over $60 million in competitive grants and allocated funding for LACC, Los Angeles Community College District and community college partners in the Los Angeles region. In her role at LACC, she collaboratively worked with local colleges and universities, including those within the California State University and University of California.
Prior to her role at LACC, Davis taught advertising, management, and marketing classes in the business department at Long Beach City College. She also served as the director of the small business development center and taught event planning classes for nonprofit and for-profit organizations in continuing education at El Camino College, where she established 43 new partnership collaborations throughout the South Bay service area to support small business development. She also developed two programs, Summer Buzz on Biz Youth Entrepreneurship Program for youth 14-27, as well as Small Business Mentor Protégé programs for the cities of Carson and Compton.
In addition to over 25 years of public and private industry experience and strong background in program development, funding and creating partnerships, Davis is on the board of directors for the New Ways to Work organization, co-chairs the enrollment management taskforce for Linked Learning Alliance, and is an advisory council member for PBS SoCal. She also serves as an international mentor to the City of Bangkok in Thailand for Navamindradhiraj University and as a curriculum and program development advisor for the Urban Community College of Bangkok.
Davis is also a product of the community college system, having obtained her associate in science in business administration at Long Beach City College before transferring to California State University, Long Beach, where she graduated with a bachelor of science in business administration. She also holds a master’s of business administration in business administration and marketing from the University of Phoenix and a doctorate of education in higher education organizational leadership from California State University, Long Beach.
