(Santa Ana, CA)— Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) named Frank Fonseca as manager of facilities at Santa Ana College (SAC). In this role, Fonseca is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising the building maintenance, and repair programs associated with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); plumbing; electrical, and carpentry in campus buildings and sites.
His duties include the coordination of SAC’s ground, custodial and plant maintenance program, assigning work orders, handling safety inspections and repair diagnosis. He also ensures the accuracy of reports pertaining to building repairs and facility modifications, arranges for the purchase of equipment and materials, assists in the preparation of cost estimates, and hires and evaluates selected personnel.
With 13 years’ experience in facilities construction and maintenance for community colleges, Fonsecabrings a diverse range of skills to his new role. Most recently, he served as the project support specialist for the Coast Community College District. In that role, he worked as a liaison for facilities and construction projects between the district and the colleges, coordinated activities requiring Division of the State Architect (DSA) approval, reviewed bids, proposals, and contracts, and monitored major and minor construction projects.
Prior to that, he served as staff specialist for the Orange Coast College campus where he performed similar tasks as well as assisted in managing campus maintenance and reviewed drawings for compliance. Earlier, he served as the lead groundkeeper at Orange Coast College managing and leading the crew in various projects designed to minimize water usage, including the use of reclaimed water for irrigation, xeriscape design, and the use of native and drought-tolerant landscaping. He trained and managed a 15-person crew who performed tree trimming, the mowing and maintenance of campus turf and athletic fields, and more.
Fonseca earned an A.A. from Orange Coast College in 1995 and will graduate from California State University, Fullerton with a B.A. in sociology this fall.
