Dr. Cathleen Greiner has joined CSUF’s Center for Entrepreneurship Advisory Board
Santa Ana, CA – The Rancho Santiago Community College District’s Dr. Cathleen Greiner, Regional Director for Business and Entrepreneurship, Orange County, California Community Colleges (CCC), has been invited to join the Center for Entrepreneurship Advisory Board at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF).
The Center for Entrepreneurship is a leading voice for entrepreneurial growth, learning and action in Orange County. It supports a breadth of initiatives within CSUF’s Mihaylo College of Business and Economics, including the advisory board and student-consulting clients and employers in the region. The Board is committed to the principle that through practice, leadership, and teamwork, new ventures, an entrepreneurial culture, and benefits are shared with the OC community.
Two upcoming examples include a “new venture,” the Veterans Summit on September 21. While many organizations offer veterans a way to find a job in corporate entities, many vets seek to own and operate their own businesses. The Vet Summit will fill this void and provide veterans with workshops, lectures, and information to start their own innovative venture and is a region-wide opportunity for veterans to explore entrepreneurship. To attend, RSVP at this link: https://bit.ly/VetTitanSept2020
The second collaboration in the near future is the entrepreneurial “fast pitch” on October 31– an event in which students from Southern California universities, community colleges, high schools and middle schools are invited to face off in the ultimate battle of business ideas. In the Titan Fast Pitch, entrepreneurs are invited to present concepts to investors, business leaders, peers and the community to find out who has the best idea. Top finishers will receive scholarships totaling more than $5,000. To register or learn more, visit www.csuffastpitch.com.
In her role, Dr. Greiner focuses on employer engagement, regional educational and business collaboration, and workforce goals such as student equity/inclusion, college and career preparation, and internships and work-based learning. She brings a long history of focusing on education, business and entrepreneurship, and collaboration with public and private partners and businesses in the county. She is honored to join the Center for Entrepreneurship Advisory Board. “This is an opportunity to emphasize economic reactivation, entrepreneurship, and transitioning and standing up a “new” marketplace and business ecosystem in the region,” she says. “We have nine colleges in our county and nearly 300,000 students, generating a pre-CV-19 $6.5 billion economic footprint. This is an incredible time for entrepreneurship and innovation to flourish and I’m excited to be part of CSU Fullerton’s Center for Entrepreneurship’s mission and vision.”
Dr. Greiner is a long-time educator in higher education and the community colleges as a teacher, dean, and vice president. As a small business owner, she also bridges real work application and educational responsiveness.
As a strategic, long-range planner with an entrepreneurial spirit, she is a sought-after expert on organizational growth, the gig economy, the new world of work, the impact of AI, automation and technology, and on the need to prepare students and individuals for academic and workplace success. She is a faculty member for the Western Association of College and University Business Officers (strategic planning and case studies), as well as at the Online Teaching Conference and the CCC Association of Occupational Education (CCCAOE)
