(Santa Ana) – Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) has named Janneth Linnell as executive director of child development services.
In this role, Linnell coordinates, directs, and evaluates classroom and support activities at the college district’s five child development centers located in Santa Ana and Orange. Her responsibilities include selecting, training, and evaluating staff, teachers, aides and volunteers. She also helps identify program and instructional needs, develops budgets, and ensures that the programs are maintained in full compliance with grants and regulatory agencies. She oversees the planning and implementation of a parent participation program and interfaces with the colleges’ human development programs and their students who gain experience in working with young children at the centers.
Linnell has more than 22 years experience in early childhood education, administering grants, department and facility management, budget development and management, personnel hiring and evaluation, and curriculum development. Previously, she served as early childhood education coordinator with the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD). In that position, she directed a staff of 100 who provided service for over 1,000 preschool children and 250 pregnant and parenting students.
Prior to that, she served as assistant coordinator of education and disabilities with the SAUSD Head Start Program. Earlier, as center director, she was responsible for directing the Capo Valley and the Evelyn L. Villegas Head Start Centers. She has also served as center director for the Huntington Beach Head Start Center and as a Head Start teacher for the Anaheim City School District.
Linnell earned an M.A. in education from the California State University, Long Beach, and a B.S. in child development from LaVerne University and holds a California Child Development Program Director Permit.
