​(Orange, CA)—On 5/15/15, Santiago Canyon College (SCC) invites the community to attend a free Concert on the Lawn. The 15^th anniversary celebration is slated for the Vázquez Promenade and Strenger Plaza. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. and the concert will get underway at 6:00 p.m.
Live entertainment will feature Electric Mistress and Wimberley Blue Grass Band.  Electric Mistress includes three SCC alumni: Eric Gulley on drums; Larry Morse on lead guitar and vocals; and Dominique Sanchez on guitar, keyboard, and vocals. Morse and Gulley were previously in a band called The Good Cousins, which won the SCC Battle of the Bands in 2011. After The Good Cousins disbanded, Electric Mistress came together in 2014, including Sanchez, Gulley, and Morse along with Molly Ginther on guitar and vocals and Leo Eifert on bass. Wimberly Blue Grass Band was recently named one of Los Angeles top five blue grass bands.  They have released four CDs and perform at many notable California venues. Last summer, the band played several dates in Arkansas and Nashville, Tennessee.

The evening is perfect for the whole family. Children’s activities include a giant slide, face painting, and games. Food trucks including Chronic Tacos and Piazza Pie will be on hand or families can feel free to bring a picnic, lawn chairs, and a blanket. The SCC Hawk will be available for photo opps.  No alcoholic beverages please.

For those who want to make an evening of it, community residents can attend SCC’s “Spring One Act Festival” slated for 8:00 p.m. in D-121. The festival includes three one-act plays called Check Please and Other Dating Adventures. Entrance is $10 for adults and $7 for students and staff.
