(Santa Ana, CA)— Santa Ana College is offering FREE English and Math Boot Camps this summer. These boot camps are for students wishing to refresh their basic skills and improve their academic performance and potentially boost their college placement test scores. The camps are open to current juniors and seniors from any high school in Orange County. Attending a boot camp provides the opportunity to become familiar with Santa Ana College’s campus, review basic math and English skills, and boost confidence.
The English Boot Camp begins on Monday, June 22 and runs through Thursday, July 2, 2015. The sessions run Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The topics, determined by a pre-boot camp survey to be completed by the participants, could include: parts of speech, sentence structure, paragraph composition, punctuation refresher, recognizing errors, composing different paragraph types, and introduction to essays.
The Math Boot Camp kicks off on Monday, July 20 and runs through Thursday, July 30, 2015. The sessions run Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The topics covered, as determined by the pre-boot camp survey, will range from pre-algebra to calculus.
Students who complete at least one camp will be entered in an opportunity drawing for one of three completion awards: $250 book/tuition voucher to Santa Ana College, an Apple Watch, or a Santa Ana College Centennial gift basket. The completion prizes are sponsored by the Santa Ana College Foundation. The Summer Boot Camps are supported by Santa Ana College and the Orange County SB 1070 Career Pathways Regional Grant.
