Santa Ana College (SAC) is pleased to announce that President Dr. Linda Rose has been named the 2018 recipient of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District 6 Pacesetter award.
The annual award, presented to Rose at the NCMPR District 6 conference September 19 in Flagstaff, Ariz., recognizes community college presidents who have demonstrated special leadership and support in college communications and marketing.
Within the past two years, Rose has strengthened SAC’s partnerships with the local K-12 community and local businesses. She began discussions with Costa Mesa’s Sergerstrom Center for the Performing Arts to showcase SAC Fine & Performing Arts student talent; worked with the Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) on dual enrollment programs, College Promise initiatives and opportunities for SAC’s School of Continuing Education, and met with prominent local business leaders. SAC has also been named a Top Workplace in 2016 and 2017 and one of the Top 100 Degree Producers of minority students by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.
Additionally, by leading SAC in the California Community Colleges Guided Pathways initiative, Santa Ana College Promise and the bachelor’s degree pilot program, Rose has had the opportunity to be a regular presenter, keynote speaker and workshop facilitator at conferences and meetings.
“Leading Santa Ana College to continue its tradition of providing a quality education for all students remains a key priority," said Rose. "Part of ensuring that students, present and future, have knowledge of who we are and what we do is through comprehensive public relations and marketing. Receiving the 2018 District 6 Pacesetter award from NCMPR is an honor. We will continue strengthening relationships with local businesses and our surrounding community to improve our workforce education programs and the quality of education we provide to all of our students."
In addition to Rose’s role as president, she works with Taller San Jose Hope Builders in Santa Ana to connect students with job training classes at SAC and sits on the board of directors for the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce. She also serves as a mentor for LiFT at California State University, Fullerton.
