(Orange, CA) - Santiago Canyon College (SCC), Orange Unified School District (OUSD) and the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) will host the fourteenth annual Community Science Night on Friday, March 22.
A free, open to the public family event, that explore the wonders of STEAM. With over 60 planned events, showcases, hands-on activities and demonstrations from SCC (25 activities), OUSD (8 activities), PYLUSD and 19 local organizations including Amigos de Bolsa Chica, Lakeshore, The Energy Coalition: PEAK, BioRad, Bricks4Kids, Club Pilates, Orange County Sheriff, Workforce Program (Career Education), Orange County SCPA, UNITY Middle College High School, California State University Fullerton, Dreams for Schools, Inside the Outdoors, Crystal Cove Conservancy, Science Heads, The Anaheim Ducks Hockey Club, Girls Inc. and the Ocean Institute will be available, many within the event’s “Dig Into Science” theme.
Large “dinosaurs” will assist in guiding guests to various activities, all of which will be geared toward school-aged children, pre-school through eighth grade, and incorporate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) principles into a fun-filled evening, which will include a Maker Challenge, Science CARES Faire, art display, robotics demonstrations and music.
In addition to planned activities, food trucks will be onsite for guests to purchase dinner, snacks or beverages, and the 501st Legion will be onsite for guests to meet and take photos with Jedis and Storm Troopers. Guests will receive a wristband, bag and brochure detailing the evening’s activities.
No tickets or pre-registration is required. Community Science Night will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., rain or shine, at Santiago Canyon College, 8045 E. Chapman Ave. in Orange.
