Sherry DeRosa Named Associate Dean of Disabled Students Programs and Services at Santa Ana College

(Santa Ana, CA)—Rancho Santiago Community College District has named Sherry DeRosa as associate dean, Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) at Santa Ana College (SAC). In this role, DeRosa is responsible for supervision and administration, personnel, budget, records and reports of DSPS, the SAC Health and Wellness Center, and Psychological Services.

DeRosa has more than 30 years of experience in education. From 2012-2014, she served as a speech pathologist for Anaheim Union High School District where she assessed, diagnosed, and treated adolescents with language disorders. Prior to that, she served as a patient advocate for Shining Light, LLC, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where she helped clients navigate life challenges such as medical crises, job transitions and relationship issues.

Previously, DeRosa served as dean of general education for Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. In that position, she supervised more than 100 tenured and adjunct faculty and was responsible for an $8 million budget. She also oversaw grants for basic skills, English Language Learners (ELL), and disability services. Earlier, she served as campus administrator for Chippewa and Clark Counties at CVTC where she supervised a $1.6 million dollar renovation of the Chippewa Falls Campus. Before that, DeRosa was dean of basic skills and ELL education and staff development coordinator for CVTC.

From 1980-1994, she worked for Huntington Union High School District where she was a speech and language specialist and a staff development facilitator. DeRosa has also served as a university instructor. Most recently, she was an online adjunct instructor for the University of Wisconsin-Stout where she has designed and taught Introduction to Guidance.

She earned a B.A. in speech pathology from San Diego State University and an M.A. in psychology from Sierra University. She also has earned a Certificate of Advanced Standing in Educational Leadership from University of Southern Maine in Gorham, Maine, and holds the following licenses: Speech Pathologist (California), Marriage and Family Therapist (California), Principal and Assistant Principal (Maine and Wisconsin), and Wisconsin Technical College Leadership Certificate.
