Save the Date: Santa Ana College's Central Mall Grand Opening
Mark your calendar for Friday, March 23 at 11:00 a.m. Members of the Rancho Santiago Community College District community as well as friends and supporters are invited to celebrate the grand opening of Santa Ana College’s (SAC) Central Mall. The project encompasses the new Centennial Circle, SchoolsFirst Plaza, and a new amphitheater.
Thanks to Measure Q, the $198 million general obligation bond measure passed by voters in November 2012; Santa Ana College will have a new gathering space for students and the community.
“After many months of construction, the grand reopening of the central mall continues the beautiful physical transformation of Santa Ana College,” said SAC President Dr. Linda Rose. “The transformed central mall will become the focal point of the college for its second century. We are grateful to the local voters who put education first and approved Measure Q; their support allows us to renovate existing and construct new facilities in order to inspire, transform, and empower a diverse community of learners.”
The grand opening will include dedication ceremonies for both SchoolsFirst Plaza and Centennial Circle.
SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union was a major gift contributor to the Santa Ana College Foundation Centennial scholarship endowment campaign. Their $100,000 endowed gift paved the way for the major gift campaign that resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars that have been set aside for future scholars.
“We are extremely grateful for SchoolsFirst generous gift and for their many years of support for students and programs at Santa Ana College,” said Christina Romero, executive director of college advancement at Santa Ana College.
Donors who contributed to the first phase of the Pave the Way Campaign will be able to see their bricks in Centennial Circle. Additional bricks are available for $100. Bricks can be engraved with your name, a personal slogan, or even a short message about why you love SAC. Proceeds from brick sales will go toward preparing SAC for tomorrow and building the Centennial Scholarship Campaign to help the college reach its goal making a college degree possible in every home. Additional information is available through this link.
Attendees can also learn about SAC’s outstanding programs and services, as well as how the college is preparing itself to meet the needs of 21st century learners. Renderings of upcoming Measure Q projects, the new Johnson Student Center and the Science Building, will be on display.
