SANTA ANA, Calif. — Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) generates $2.4 billion in added income across Orange County and supports 25,305 jobs, according to the latest economic impact analysis conducted by Lightcast. That means one out of every 96 jobs in Orange County is supported by the activities of RSCCD, its colleges and students.

RSCCD alumni generated the largest share of the district’s economic impact, contributing $1.9 billion in added income and supporting 19,007 jobs. District operations contributed another $323.8 million and supported 3,906 jobs, while spending by students added $169.5 million and supported 2,319 jobs.

Santa Ana College generates approximately $1.6 billion in economic impact and supports 16,729 jobs. Santiago Canyon College generates approximately $662.8 million in economic impact and supports 7,116 jobs.

“RSCCD’s impact reaches far beyond our classrooms and campuses,” said RSCCD Chancellor Marvin Martinez. “Our students leave us with the education, skills and credentials to enter the workforce, advance in their careers and create better opportunities for their families. Their success strengthens local businesses and contributes to the long-term economic vitality of Orange County.”

The report also found that students receive an average of $6.30 in higher future earnings for every dollar invested in their RSCCD education. Taxpayers receive an estimated $1.80 in added tax revenue and public-sector savings for every dollar invested in the district.

Through its colleges and continuing education programs, RSCCD prepares students for transfer, career advancement and employment while helping Orange County employers meet their workforce needs.

The report, based on Fiscal Year 2023-24 data, was developed through a collaboration between RSCCD and the Orange County Regional Consortium, with Lightcast conducting the analysis.
