Rancho Santiago Community College District Names Manager of Publications and Electronic Media

(Santa Ana) – Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) has named Dean Hopkins as manager of publications and electronic media.

In this role, Hopkins directs RSCCD’s Publications Center, providing in-house color and monochrome digital printing services, and manages written and visual content for the district and college websites, as well as oversees other electronic media needs.

Hopkins has more than 22 years experience in California community colleges where he has held a wide range of positions. Since 2004, he has served as electronic media specialist for RSCCD. In this role, he wrote and maintained content for all RSCCD websites. He led the implementation of analytic tracking software on all websites to monitor traffic and improve navigation. He also established and managed social media channels, including Facebook and Twitter, for the college district and its colleges—Santa Ana and Santiago Canyon. Earlier he served as sports information coordinator at Santa Ana College where he managed media relations for 21 athletic teams.

Prior to that, he served as director of public information and marketing at Long Beach City College where he planned and implemented comprehensive public relations and internal communications programs. Previously, he worked as sports publicist for Long Beach City College. Earlier, he served as public information publications assistant/photographer for the college.

Hopkins holds a B.A. in mass communications from Buena Vista University in Iowa. In addition to his duties for RSCCD, he serves as vice president of social media for the International Association of Business Communicators, Orange County chapter.
