(Santa Ana) - Auditions for the fall season of Santa Ana College’s cable television newscasts, Around and About Orange County (AAOC) and Noticiero Latino del Condado de Orange (NLCO), are set for Tuesday, August 28, at 11:00 a.m. News, sports, and entertainment anchors and reporters are being sought. Interested parties must check in at the SAC-TV studios in the Digital Media Center, 1300 S. Bristol., Room 103, Santa Ana on August 28.
No previous broadcasting experience or dress-up attire is necessary to try out for the behind-the-scenes crew or on-camera talent seen weekly on Time Warner Cable channels throughout Orange County and on Facebook. Candidates need to be available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from August 30 through December 6 when the shows are produced.
All cast members are required to enroll in SAC’s Television/Video Communications course 130: Principles of Broadcast News. These students will have the option of continuing with advanced courses and earning the program’s certificate.
In its 29th year, AAOC is one of the original and longest running news programs focusing specifically on local Orange County issues. More than 400 alumni have found full-time employment in media-related fields. Among them are Eliana Moreno, the aerial photojournalist for KCBS/KCAL/KNBC news, and Jeff Laabs, the ABC-TV network liaison for reality shows, including “Extreme Home Makeover” and “Shark Tanks.” In addition, Baha Eldon has landed an anchor/reporter spot with WAGM, the CBS affiliate in Presque Isle, Maine.
