Santa Ana College Art Gallery Unveils “Contact Improvisation” Fall Exhibit

Opening Reception Slated for October 7

(Santa Ana, CA) - Santa Ana College (SAC) will host an opening reception for the public at its Santora Building gallery in downtown Santa Ana on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 7 to 10 p.m. to launch the fall exhibit of “Contact Improvisation,” featuring the work of three artists. The show is curated by one of the participating artists, Alice Clements, and also features works by Lauralee Pope and Sandy de Lissovoy.

Visitors to the exhibit can expect to see works of sculptural installation, paintings, folded printed paper, and shaped aluminum. Both the opening night reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public.

“Contact Improvisation refers to a contemporary style of dance in which individuals improvise in physical contact with each other,” notes Clements, who has taught at SAC in the past. “The artists in this show emulate this style through the use of materials and methods that evolve into a group improvisation.”

The show runs through November 4 at the SAC Art Gallery, located at 207 N. Broadway, Suite Q in Santa Ana. Gallery hours are from noon to 4 p.m. on Fridays, from 7 to 10 p.m. during the First Saturday Artwalk, and by appointment.

For more information or to make an appointment to visit the gallery, call (714) 564-5615 or visit www.sac.edu.edu/art.
