(Orange, CA) —Santiago Canyon College (SCC) is set to showcase one of its most exciting annual exhibits - student artwork. The show will be held at the SCC Art Gallery and the Lorenzo A. Ramirez Library from April 22 – May 22.
Held each year in the spring, the show, consisting of students’ painting, drawing, sculpture, digital imaging and photography, will be juried by SCC faculty members. The winners of the SCC Foundation Purchase Award will be added to the college’s permanent collection and some student work may be available for art patrons to purchase.
“One of the awards we most look forward to is the SCC Foundation Purchase Award,” said Robert Miller, SCC’s Art Department chair and associate professor of art. “This award allows the foundation to purchase actual student artwork from the show. Student art that is selected is then professionally framed and becomes part of the SCC’s permanent collection. We currently have over 100 pieces in our collection. We never know what type of art is going to be submitted but are always amazed at the quality of execution and amount of creativity.”
An awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 17 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the Lorenzo A. Ramirez Library, 8045 E. Chapman Ave., Orange 92869. A reception with food and drink will follow at the SCC Art Gallery. The gallery is located on the east side of the D-Building. Enter from the outside. Day parking permits can be purchased for $2.
