Santiago Canyon College Foundation Golf Tournament to Benefit Hawk’s Nest Food Pantry and Basic Needs Center at SCC

(Orange, CA) – It will soon be tee time on behalf of Santiago Canyon College (SCC) as the SCC Foundation hosts the 20th Annual “Changing Students’ Lives” Golf Tournament. This year the tournament will take place on Thursday, April 30, at Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine, CA. Proceeds will support the Hawk’s Nest Food Pantry and Basic Needs Center at SCC.

“The tournament turns 20 this year, which corresponds to the 20th anniversary of Santiago Canyon College as an accredited community college. The event will highlight both of these milestones, as well as raise funds for our Hawk’s Nest Food Pantry and soon-to-launch Basic Needs Center. We’re very proud to be a leader among Orange County community colleges in providing expanded support services – like the pantry – that make college more accessible for all students.” said SCC President John Hernandez, Ph.D.

“As a beneficiary of Hawk’s Nest Food Pantry services, I have had the opportunity to get help for myself and my family in a positive, supportive environment,” said Joceline Silva, SCC student and Hawk’s Nest Food Pantry part-time employee. “As a student worker for the food pantry, I have had the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. It’s been really rewarding to help other students and make a difference in their lives.”

Registration and the driving range open at 10 a.m., with a putting competition starting at noon. Shotgun play and the four-person scramble begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. Once play concludes at 6 p.m., the cash bar will open followed by dinner and an awards ceremony. For the second year, the evening entertainment will also include a helicopter golf ball drop, which will be live-streamed on Facebook. Winners of the ball drop do not have to be present to win.

Registration is $250 per golfer, and includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, driving range, on-course food and beverages, a gift bag and dinner. Non-golfers can join the fun and purchase dinner tickets for $50. Tickets for the golf ball drop are $10 each, $50 for 6 or $100 for 13.

Sponsorships are still available, with opportunities ranging from $250 to $10,000. Visit www.sccollege.edu/golftournament, call 714-628-4888 or email foundation@sccollege.edu for more information.
