The Associated Student Government (ASG) of the Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) has named Santa Ana resident Theodore Moreno as the student representative on the RSCCD Board of Trustees for 2019-2020.
Moreno, an anthropology major with archeology emphasis at Santa Ana College (SAC), is a product of the Santa Ana Unified School District and a graduate of Hector Godinez Fundamental High School where he served for four years on the school’s Associated Student Body, including one year as ASB President. He has previously served as Vice President of SAC’s ASG where he advocated for a number of initiatives, including increasing and expanding student representation in ASG and increasing the hours of programs and services on campus. Off campus, Moreno is employed as a salesperson at JESUSMYROCK, an Orange County screen printing company.
Moreno said he hopes to find “new avenues to better serve the students at Santiago Canyon College, Santa Ana College and the Continuing Education Center” and replaces outgoing representative Elizabeth M. Weber.
RSCCD student trustees are recognized as a full member at Board of Trustees meetings and can participate in the discussion of issues with the privilege of an advisory vote. Moreno will serve alongside President Phillip Yarbrough, Vice President Claudia C. Alvarez, Clerk Zeke Hernandez and Board Members Arianna P. Barrios, John R. Hanna, Lawrence “Larry” R. Labrado and Nelida Mendoza. RSCCD’s Board of Trustees serve four-year terms, while student trustees serve a single 12-month term.
