Thursday, April 25th |1:30pm-3:00pm

For Muslim Awareness Month, we invite you to join us alongside guest speaker Dr. Yousef K. Baker.  Together, we will delve into the rich history of Muslims in the U.S. and explore strategies that campuses can adopt to enhance their relationship with Muslim students.

Yousef K. Baker, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the International Studies Program at California State University, Long Beach. He also co-directs the Middle East Studies Program on campus and is the co-founder of the Iraqi Narratives Project: a non-profit that collects oral histories of people who migrate from Iraq to the United States or Canada.

His research focuses on the turmoil happening in the Middle East and North Africa. He also examines anti-Muslim racism and its connection to national and global issues that shape American and international politics.

Baker holds a Ph.D., and master's in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
