Applicants for faculty positions in California Community Colleges are required to meet
certain minimum qualifications for faculty and educational administrator positions,
as set out in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California
Community Colleges handbook published by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's
Office.
If applicants for faculty positions do not meet the Minimum Qualifications provided
by the Chancellor's office, they may still be eligible for a faculty position if they
successfully apply under the equivalency Determination Process

Transcripts from countries other than the United States must be evaluated by an agency
that is approved by or a member of the National Association of Credentials Evaluation Service (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE), or Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
Rancho Santiago Community College District accepts foreign transcript evaluations
from any agency that is a member of either Association of International Credential
Evaluations, Inc. (AICE) or National Association of Credential Evaluation Services
(NACES).
Purpose of Transcript Evaluation
Official transcripts and/or evaluated foreign transcripts are used to:
- Verify that an applicant meets the minimum qualifications in the discipline for which
they are applying.
- Establish salary/class placement.
Applicants who have completed college or university course work at an institution
outside of the United States that is not a post-secondary institution accredited by
an accreditation agency recognized by either the US Department of Education or the
Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) must obtain a complete evaluation
of foreign transcripts, degrees, and other relevant documents.
Only include the foreign transcript evaluation (not the foreign transcript) with your
application.
Salary / Class Placement
Human Resources evaluates transcripts to determine salary/class placement. If you are requesting a foreign transcript evaluation, then
make sure to request to have the specific units evaluated. For example, request that the number of units earned per course and the level of the course taken (upper division,
graduate, lower division, undergraduate, and so on) is included on the evaluation.
This evaluation will assist in getting placed at the highest class placement if you are hired at RSCCD.

What is the Equivalency Determination Process?
The equivalency determination process is used to consider qualified candidates when
titles of degrees are different from the required degrees listed in the Disciplines List for that position within the Minimum Qualifications Handbook.
Applicants whose degree titles do not match exactly the degree(s) listed in the job
posting and request an equivalency will be reviewed by the screening committee for
determination of equivalency. If granted equivalency the applicant will remain in
the applicant pool. If equivalency is not granted the applicant will be notified
via email.
Being granted equivalency does not guarantee you an interview.
When you apply for a faculty position, you will be asked the following supplemental
questions:
Do you meet the minimum qualifications or the specific equivalencies described in
the Job Announcement? If no, go to attachments, click add supplemental attachment,
choose "Document to Support Request for Equivalencies" and upload.
If Yes, enter N/A. If No, please provide evidence of other equivalencies you wish to be considered: e.g. transcripts,
publications, work products or other demonstration of required mastery. Describe here
and upload supporting documents before submitting your application.
You can only apply for an equivalency determination when you submit an application for
an open position.
You will be notified via email whether you are granted or denied equivalency. If
you are granted equivalency your application will remain in the pool and you will
receive a copy of the equivalency determination form/letter for your use for future
applications. If you are not granted equivalency you will not move forward in the
pool.
Being granted equivalency does not guarantee you an interview.
