This page is for public information about the District's Hazard Mitigation Plan. Here you will find the draft written Plan itself and a link to how to make your comments known. The full document is open to comment, but the District is especially interested in the public reaction to the Goals, Objectives, and Actions that are established in this document.
Background
The federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires local jurisdictions eligible for FEMA disaster mitigation funding to develop, approve and maintain a Hazard Mitigation Plan. This Plan addresses those potential natural hazard events having the most significant risks for each agency or jurisdiction. Such a plan takes into account historical records as well as recent developments to assess the amount of risk from each possible event. This Plan includes resources and information to assist the district, the public and private sector organizations, and the college community efforts in risk reduction and loss prevention caused by natural hazard events. Below are the different sections of our Plan for your review.
