Santiago Canyon College Foundation Names Two to Board of Directors

​(Orange, CA)—The Santiago Canyon College (SCC) Foundation recently appointed Michelle Scolaro and Jim D’Agostino to its board of directors. The foundation is a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that raises funds to support the college and its students through the leadership of an eight-member board of directors.

Scolaro, an Orange resident, is a real estate agent for Seven Gables Real Estate. Her office is located in Old Towne Orange. In 2015, she received the Seven Gables award for leading community service and exceeding the company’s standard of excellence. She is an ambassador for the Orange Chamber of Commerce. As an ambassador she assisted in promoting new businesses in Orange. Also, she currently is a career technical education partner with Central Orange County.

Scolaro has done extensive volunteer work with Villa Park High School and Robert C. Fisler School in Fullerton. She also served within Rhode Island’s Army National Guard, 243rd Military Police Brigade. She graduated from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts with a B.S. in kinesiology and a minor in business.

D’Agostino, an Orange resident, is in his fifth year as principal and executive director at Santiago Charter Middle School in Orange. He has been working in various positions within the Orange Unified School District for the past 12 years, including serving as a teacher of history, geography, and special education; coaching at both high school and middle school levels; and working in administration. For the last 10 years, he has also taken students on international educational tours to countries such as, China, Greece, Costa Rica, and Ireland. Within the community, D’Agostino is involved in the Community Foundation of Orange and Gang Reduction and Intervention Partners (GRIP).

Prior to working within the education field, he owned his own restaurant in Buffalo, New York, and was a licensed insurance agent in his family’s business. He graduated with a bachelor’s in history and government from Daemen College in Amherst, New York. D’Agostino then received his master’s and doctorate from Argosy University in educational leadership.
