RCSSD Announces New Board President and Welcomes Newly Elected and Re-Elected Trustees​

​​​​​​Santa Ana, CA – The Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) is proud to announce the re-election of several dedicated trustees, a newly elected board member, and the historic election of Trustee Daisy Tong as Board President.

Cecilia “Ceci” Iglesias, representing (Area 3), brings a wealth of experience, having previously served on the Santa Ana Unified School District board and the Santa Ana City Council. Her unwavering dedication to community service and education will be an invaluable asset to the district.

Returning trustees include David Crockett (Area 5) and Tina Arias Miller (Area 7), who have played critical roles in guiding RSCCD’s mission since their tenure began in 2020. Their leadership has been instrumental in ensuring the district’s continued focus on student success and community engagement.

Additionally, Zeke Hernandez (Area 1), who was first elected to the board in 2016, has been re-elected, reaffirming his ongoing commitment to RSCCD’s students and community. Trustee Hernandez’s years of service reflect his steadfast advocacy for access to higher education and workforce development opportunities across the district.

As these trustees assume their roles, Daisy Tong has been elected Board President, making history as the first president of Vietnamese descent to lead the RSCCD Board of Trustees. Trustee Tong’s election reflects RSCCD’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity in leadership.

In expressing her gratitude, Trustee Tong commented, "I am honored that the Board of Trustees has entrusted me to serve as President of California's fourth largest community college district and the largest district in the State for non-credit students. I'm grateful for the support of my family and friends.

As an immigrant born in Vietnam, I deeply appreciate the community college system—a place that gives everyone, no matter their circumstances, the opportunity to transform their lives and achieve the American dream.”

She added, “I look forward to working with the Chancellor and my colleagues to champion our students and ensure RSCC remains a place where they can grow their education and improve their futures."

RSCCD Chancellor Marvin Martinez congratulated the board and new Trustee President Daisy Tong: “Congratulations to Trustees Cecilia “Ceci” Iglesias, David Crockett, Tina Arias Miller, and Zeke Hernandez on their elections. The board also announced that Trustee Phillip Yarbrough would serve as Board Vice President and Trustee Zeke Hernandez would serve as Board Clerk.
