Orange County SBDC Invites Community to Grand Opening of Newest Once in a Licetime Location

(Santa Ana, CA)—The Orange County Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will host a grand opening for the seventh location of Once in a Licetime, a leading expert in the field of removing and preventing head lice, on Friday, June 8 at 4 p.m. in San Juan Capistrano.

The idea for Once in a Licetime came to owner Shannon Saathoff after she was told her daughter was infected with lice. After thorough research, she opened the first location offering all-natural, non-toxic lice treatments and education throughout Southern California.

Once in a Licetime, which recently opened a Beverly Hills location on May 15, utilized the Orange County SBDC every step of the way for her newest location in San Juan Capistrano. She received assistance with its logo, pricing structure and cost, product labels, marketing materials, future franchising, future exporting opportunities, human resources, leasing agreements, distributors, improving financing, online sales and branding.

“The SBDC has been so amazing,” said Saathoff. “They’ve been so supportive for two years. They heard that I had opened a sixth location and stepped in and said, ‘how can we help?’ If anything, that’s the main thing that SBDC does. They don’t wait for me to ask, they jump in and help wherever they can. That’s pretty phenomenal.”

Saathoff said SBDC was particularly helpful with lease negotiations by reviewing lease documents and singling out areas that needed to be addressed to protect Saathoff.

“They also helped me be a better employer by teaching me about my staff and keeping them in ‘excellent status,’” Saathoff said. “They were amazing. They helped teach me how to be a better employer, which was huge for me. I just recently took a compliance class through them with Linda Duffy that was incredibly beneficial. They have a lot of resources. They do so many things.”

Friday’s grand opening event will include a few words from San Juan Capistrano Mayor Sergio Farias, Councilmember Kerry Ferguson, a representative from Congressman Darrell Issa’s office, and a representative from the Orange County Clerk Recorder’s Office. Activities will also include a ribbon cutting ceremony, networking, light refreshments, tours of the facility, games and raffles.

Once in a Licetime is located at 32301 Camino Capistrano, Ste. G, San Juan Capistrano, 92675.
