Rancho Santiago Community College District Awarded $125K Grant from the Orange County Community Foundation for College’s New Behavior Technician Certificate Program

(Santa Ana, CA) – Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) has been selected to receive a $125K grant for three years from the Orange County Community Foundation’s (OCCF) Henry W. and Ellen R. Warne Family Endowment Fund – a permanent endowment that directs one-third of its grant making to supporting educational institutions in Orange County. The grant will support Santiago Canyon College (SCC) School of Continuing Education’s new Behavior Technician certificate program.

The Behavior Technician certificate program is the result of a partnership between RSCCD, SCC and the Autism Business Association that identified both the need for Behavior Technicians, as well as the gap in workforce readiness in Orange County and surrounding communities. SCC School of Continuing Education developed the curriculum for the program to address these pressing local needs.

“OCCF is proud to fund SCC’s collaborative program as part of our mission to catalyze sustainable community impact,” said Shelley Hoss, President & CEO, OCCF. “There are thousands of available middle-skills jobs in Orange County but not enough skilled candidates to fill them. Our goal is to increase the number of Community College students acquiring the training and certification necessary for these opportunities by connecting educational institutions and workforce development programs to jobs within targeted business sectors in Orange County.”

“With the generous support of the Orange County Community Foundation, SCC’s Behavior Technician certificate program addresses a vital need that benefits our students, our colleges, and our community’s autistic children and families in need,” stated RSCCD Chancellor Marvin Martinez.

Santiago Canyon College (SCC) School of Continuing Education’s new Behavior Technician Certificate will be offered in January 2020. For more information, please contact Leila Mozaffari at (714) 480-7456 or by email at Mozaffari_Leila@rsccd.edu.
