SAC Student Choir Presents Virtual Halloween Concert Holiday Treat for Everyone

(SANTA ANA, Calif.) The Santa Ana College (SAC) Choir is proud to announce its 2020 virtual Halloween Concert “This is Halloween” on Friday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m.

Over the semester, students have compiled recordings to create a virtual choir performance in the form of music videos. In addition to the full-choir numbers, there will be three student showcase pieces that small groups of students have put together themselves. A total of 25 SAC students will be participating in the concert.

Students said performing virtually simply is not as fulfilling as a live in-person concert, but they are grateful that technology allows them to showcase their talents.

"For me, I feel like it's just harder to find that drive, or that adrenaline, if you will, that comes more naturally when we're preparing for an in-person concert,” said Baylee Pace, Music major.

Dr. Elliott Jones, director of choral music at SAC, said the choir students have worked incredibly hard to perfect their performances and provide a pleasant experience for their audiences.

“In these difficult times, it has been so gratifying to see our SAC singers digging into their pieces and creating such fun and expressive work in both audio and video formats,” said Dr. Jones. “It’s been a hard slog getting the material ready in time for Halloween, but the students have made it a blast!”

In addition to the full-choir numbers, there will be three student showcase pieces that small groups of students have put together themselves.

Halloween program (order may vary):

  • The Addams Family Theme
  • Feelin’ Good
  • Pirate King (from Pirates of Penzance)
  • When the Foeman Bares His Steel (from Pirates of Penzance)
  • Phantom of the Opera (from Phantom of the Opera)
  • A Medley (from Nightmare Before Christmas)
  • Mutability (from Frankenstein)
  • Time Warp (from The Rocky Horror Picture Show)

Choir accompanist, Kate Bode, will serve as our Facebook moderator and will facilitate audience interaction with the ensemble during and after the performance.
