A Free Event Featuring Activities, Learning, Prizes, Resources, Entertainment and More!
(Santa Ana, CA)—Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) Child Development Services is thrilled to announce its third annual Family Fun Day, an exciting event for families and children of all ages, which is open to the entire community. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever. Family Fun Day 2018 will be held at Santa Ana College in parking lot 8 on Saturday, June 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All are welcome and encouraged to attend this FREE event.
Family Fun Day is a community-wide celebration and resource fair that will be filled with music, dance, performances, prizes, and jam-packed with fun learning activities geared toward every age level. This event truly offers something for everyone. Parents will have access to a wealth of resources and information from over 30 participating community agencies and businesses. This year, the event has been expanded to include entertaining and engaging activities for older kids and adults.
Festivities will include a Mexican dance performance entitled “Ballet Folklorico: Pilares de Mexico”, live music from Estudiantina De El Sol, a mini-sketch by Payasito Travieso Boy, a puppet show hosted by Tiptina the clown, Andean cultural music, and a special appearance by locally-renowned dance instructor Luis Aragon, who will provide freesalsa dance lessons to attendees. Nena La Payasita and Tipitina the clown will be this year’s presenters.
The popular Children’s Corner will return featuring multiple age-appropriate activities geared toward infants, toddlers, preschoolers and elementary ages. The theme this year is “Move and Learn”. Children can participate in a variety of fun activities including face painting and ‘make and take home’ activities such as homemade ringtoss and catch. Family Fun Day will also have an obstacle course, a beanbag toss, and numerous other games. Toddlers can enjoy mini basketball and babies are sure to love the Infant Exploration Area. Adults can play Loteria, a Mexican bingo card game, for a chance to win prizes.
Keeping with the tradition it was founded upon, Family Fun Day, formerly the “Community Resources Fair,” will feature a wide range of valuable information and community resources beneficial for parents in the Santa Ana and Orange County area. Agencies will be on hand to provide guidance with educational development and healthcare, and children can even receive a free dental screening. Other helpful family resources will be available in areas of financial, legal, home utilities, children’s services, community services and many more.
Families will have the chance to win fabulous prizes during the Family Fun Day raffle just by picking up complimentary information from participating agencies. Prizes to be given away at this year’s raffle include two brand new bicycles, a scooter, tickets to the Santa Ana Zoo, gift baskets courtesy of Starbucks, as well as a chance to win tickets to popular attractions including Pretend City, Aquarium of the Pacific, Discovery Science Center, Boomers in Irvine, and the historic San Juan Capistrano Mission.
Over 30 community-based agencies will be in attendance including: Alcoholics Anonymous, Assurance Wireless, CalOptima, CAPC School Readiness Program for kids aged 0 to 6, Children’s Bureau, City of Santa Ana Water Resources, Community Health Initiative of Orange County, Delhi Center, Department of Child Support Services, Discovery Cube of Orange County hosting hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities, Give for a Smile, Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County providing free dental screenings for children, Hurtt Family Health Clinic, Legal Aid Society of Orange County, OC (Orange County) Child Abuse Prevention Center’s ‘Well Program’, National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD-OC), Olive Crest, Orange County’s Credit Union, Orange County Fire Authority, Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), Regional Center of Orange County, RSCCD Child Development Services, Santa Ana College School of Continuing Education Centennial Education Center, Santa Ana Police Department, SAUSD (Santa Ana Unified School District) Head Start Program, TASK, and THINK Together.
