(Santa Ana) – Rancho Santiago Community College District has named Kimberly Mathews as director of special programs/career technical education at Santa Ana College. In this role, she is responsible for the planning, supervision and coordination of programs and activities for the Career Education and Workforce Development Division (CEWD). CEWD supports and promotes the college’s career technical education programs, including criminal justice, entrepreneurship, auto technology, digital media arts, manufacturing technology, pharmacy technology, and more.
Mathews has more than 15 years experience in career technical education, job development, program management and development, and educational services. Most recently, she served as interim director of special programs/career technical education at Santa Ana College. In that role, she established collaborative partnerships with AAA, Cal Poly Pomona, and other community/governmental agencies in order to provide students with additional programs and opportunities. Earlier, she served as a career guidance specialist, a career technician, and an adult basic education instructor for Santa Ana College.
Prior to that, Mathews served as a substance abuse educator and a senior job developer for Providence Community Services. Previously, she served as associate director for Catholic Detention Ministry and an education services coordinator for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
She earned a B.A. in psychology and sociology from the University of Notre Dame, Ind., and a master’s degree in pastoral counseling from Trinity College of Graduate Studies.
