Santa Ana College Concert Band and Chamber Orchestra to Perform Fall Show on November 19

​Santa Ana, Calif. – With an exciting mix of standards and classic favorites, the Santa Ana College Concert Band and Chamber Orchestra will perform its fall show at the college’s Phillips Hall on November 19.

The afternoon will include the Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Beata Gilbert, with selections from Mozart and Beethoven as well as highlights from Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.

The Concert Band, directed by Assistant Professor Michael Briones, will perform a rousing Sousa march and “Mambo” from West Side Story, among other standard band literature.

About Beata Gilbert and Michael Briones
Gilbert is a part-time faculty member at SAC. She instructs the Chamber Ensemble course and teaches string classes. Her book, “The Violin Course,” is a three-part method book specializes in teaching children ages 4-7 how to play the violin. A native of Katowice, Poland, Gilbert was a member of the Polish Youth Orchestra and prizewinner at the Silesia Violin Competition. More recently, she took home a prize at the American String Teacher Association Competition.
Briones, a trombonist with experience in several styles of music, has performed with the Backstreet Boys, Brian Setzer Orchestra, Matthew Morrison from “Glee” and Earl Klugh. He has been on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and The Voice, as well as appeared in The Muppet Movie. He teaches Instrumental Music and Applied Music courses at SAC.
