Santa Ana College Holds Cable TV Auditions on February 11

(Santa Ana)— Auditions for Santa Ana College’s cable television news programs, Around and About Orange County (AAOC) and Noticiero Latino del Condado de Orange (NLCO), are scheduled for Tuesday, February 11, at 11:00 a.m. News, sports, and entertainment anchors and reporters are being sought. Auditions will be held at the SAC-TV studios located in the Digital Media Center, 1300 S. Bristol., Room 103, Santa Ana.

No previous broadcasting experience is necessary and anyone interested is required to enroll in SAC’s Television/Video Communications course 130: Principles of Broadcast News. Behind-the-scenes crew members and on-camera talent are needed for the dual English and Spanish productions seen weekly on Time Warner Cable and on Facebook. Candidates need to be available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from February 11 through May 29 when the shows are produced.

“This year we salute our over 500 alumni of the newscasts including Will Ferrell, who have participated in  Around and About Orange County,” said Terry Bales, SAC TV/Video chair. “We are thrilled to be celebrating the 30th anniversary of this show in April 2014.”

In its 30th year, AAOC is the oldest, continuous running cable show in Orange County.  Among the program’s alumni are Patricia Gutierrez, now a producer with KDOC-TV, and Joe Rodriguez, producer of international soccer for Fox Sports, and Jeff Laabs, now a photojournalist with KTLA 5.
