SAC Hosts Student Leadership Institute March 18-19

WHAT:

The Student Leadership Institute (SLI) is a joint program of Santa Ana College and California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). The program consists of a series of seminars over two days covering a range of leadership development topics. These seminars help students improve their leadership skills as well as enhance future leadership potential.

SLI is a non-credit, certificate-bearing leadership program of nine one- and two-hour workshops offered over one weekend. After completing the 22-hour program, students will be invited to a banquet on April 26 at CSUF where they will be recognized and receive a certificate.

Topics include: networking, effective leadership, time management, communications skills, public speaking, creating networks, ethical decision making, diverse community, teamwork, and marketing your leadership abilities.

Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19
8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

WHO:

Seventy-two Santa Ana College students have been selected to participate. The keynote speakers are Dr. Brent M. Foster, CSUF assistant professor of communications, and Roman Reyna, Santa Ana City Councilmember.

Workshop presenters include:

    • Effective Leadership - Dr. Osiel Madrigal, social services manager, Santa Ana Unified School District
    • Time Management – Dr. Phong Luong, Graduate Division counselor, UC Irvine
    • Diverse Community – James Armendaris, program manager, Police Community Reconciliation Program, OC Human Relations

WHY:

The SLI helps students acquire solid leadership skills and benefit from connecting with experienced professionals and community leaders who take the time to share their expertise and real-world experiences.
