Santa Ana College Presents 20th Annual Guitar Ensemble Concert on Nov. 19

(Santa Ana, CA)—The Santa Ana College (SAC) Music Department is proud to host its 20th Annual Guitar Ensemble Concert featuring the performances of Santa Ana College students on Saturday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature music by multiple composers, including Alessandro Marcello, Mark Houghton, Annette Kruisbrink, Carlos Santana, Jürg Kindle, Bob Power, Francis Goudard, and others. It will culminate with the performance of an original composition titled “Premonition,” written by SAC music professor David Adele, specifically for the Santa Ana Guitar Ensemble.

The event will be held at Phillips Hall Theatre on the SAC campus, and is open to the public.

More than 20 student-guitarists will perform simultaneously as well as in duos, trios, quartets, and quintets. The event is directed, conducted and emceed by Adele. The students represent a range of experience from one year to 20 years.

The Guitar Ensemble is both a class and a performance, Adele explains, “This is a class that combines guitarists of many different skill levels all collaborating to bring together a concert of music consisting of multiple styles of music. It is my absolute favorite class to teach for a few reasons. I get to see my students achieve a tremendous goal of putting together a music concert. Through the process they are building their musicianship skills, their ability to collaborate with other musicians, their technique, and their creativity.” He goes on to say that the class also teaches him. “As their instructor, it has made me a better musician through the constant exploration of the guitar ensemble medium. Throughout the years, I have had opportunities to compose for the groups, lead them in many guitar ensemble festivals, and perform on many concert stages. But the most important aspect to me is the joy I see in my students as they grow and become better musicians through taking my class.”

Tickets for the ensemble concert are available online, with general admission at $9.99, student tickets at $7.99, and tickets for children from ages 5-14 at only $5.00. Tickets can be ordered online at http://sac.edu/music/Events and can be held at Will Call for pickup or printed at home.
