Santa Ana College Presents Studio Night on May 29

Santa Ana, Calif. –Giving students a chance to spotlight their work and celebrate the end of the semester, Santa Ana College’s (SAC) Dance Department will present Studio Night: Dance Department Showcase for one night only on May 29.

“Studio Night is an informal presentation of dance to celebrate the end of the semester, in which a majority of the students from various dance classes come together and showcase what they have been working on throughout the semester,” said department chair Heather Gillette.

The routines, she said, are shorter in length and not the same fully developed and produced works that would be seen in a complete production setting. Minimal costuming and staging will give the performances a minimalistic, stripped down quality where audiences can truly enjoy the movement on stage.

Gillette said the show is meant to be fun and a way for SAC’s dance majors to gain valuable production experience that will help them in their future career pursuits.

Studio Night, illustrating the elegant and exciting expression of dance, is on Tuesday, May 29 at 7 p.m. at SAC’s Phillips Hall Theatre, 1530 W. 17th St. in Santa Ana. Tickets, which are only available at the box office, are $3 each with all proceeds supporting SAC dance students who will attend and participate in next year’s American College Dance Festival. Parking is available in Lot 6 off Bristol Street and parking permits can be purchased for $2 at one of two dispensers in the lot.
